Rev. Charles E. Jones was called and commissioned to preach “The Unsearchable Riches of
Christ” on Wednesday, February 16, 1972. He was licensed to preach the Gospel at the Calvary Baptist Church, February 20, 1972, by the late Rev. L. H. Newsom, who also ordained him in April of that same year.
It was by the influence of the Holy Spirit that Rev. Jones was united with his mother, the late Dr. Daisy L. Huff in service to the Christian Temple Baptist Church. For twenty-one years he served as co-pastor until God called Dr. Huff home in February, 1994. The Lord then saw fit to install Rev. Jones as pastor in March, 1994 and he has served faithfully till now.
Rev. Jones began his formal Biblical studies at the Toledo Christian Training Center under the tutelage of Dr. Daisy L. Huff. He later studied and received several certificates from the Moody Bible Institute of Chicago, Illinois, through correspondence courses.
Pastor Jones is a member of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., the Ohio Baptist State
Convention, Inc., where he presently serves as the First Vice President of its Congress of Christian Education; President of Congress of Christian Education, the Ohio New Life District Baptist Association and Past First Vice President of the Baptist Ministers Conference.
Pastor Jones is a lifetime member of the NAACP, having served on its Executive Committee and was Chairman of its Religious Affairs, locally. He also served on Mayor Jack Ford’s Transition Team. Various other civic and religious contributions have been made by Pastor Jones. His greatest contributions, however, comes as Pastor of Christian Temple Baptist Church.
God is empowering Pastor Jones to lead Christian Temple in the paths of righteousness. His main topic is “love”. He preaches love for God and love for one another. Under Pastor Jones’ pastorate we have made progress in our efforts to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18). Great accomplishments have been made materially and numerically. In November, 2008 the Mortgage was burned on the Huff-Jones Center, but the spiritual is of the utmost importance. For only what we do for Christ will last.
Pastor Jones has been married to (the former) C. Margo Hudson since September 2, 1972. Theirs has been a blessed union together. God truly has smiled on them. They are the proud parents of Erica (Steven), Rev. John (Charity), Rev. James (Joslyn) and Charlotte Jones. Also an adopted daughter Charlotte Washington. They have been blessed with three precious granddaughters: Naomi Elise, Cathryn Elisabeth, and Anyah Symone and four handsome grandsons: John Michael Charles, Nathanael James, Samuel Christopher and Gabriel Evan.
“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Jos. 24:15b)
