Education Resources

During the course of the past six years the Churches within the OBSC have worked to generate over $75,000 to support graduating high school seniors who aspire to further their educations by attending the college of their choice.  These collective efforts have allowed the OBSC to support 30 students to pursue a college education.

OBSC scholarships are available to students of member churches and are awarded using a point based system.  The applicants are evaluated based on GPA, church ministry service, community service, personal endorsements and a personal statement of need.

  • Over the last seven years the Ohio Baptist Convention has funded 30 scholarships with the average award being $2,500 & awarded 100 laptop computers/ tablets to the youth of our State Convention.
  • We have generated over $75,000 to support these efforts and all funds generated have come through internal efforts and the generous, sacrificial gifts of our delegates.
  • Education is swiftly changing with rapidly changing technology and we seek to keep our youth on the front edge of this change.
  • Our goal is to continue to grow our scholarship efforts and offer more substantial awards to enhance the aspirations of our youth to continue their higher education matriculation.
  • The “2017 Faith Walk” is the third annual event to further our efforts to assist our youth.
  • The scholarships are awarded to applicants from member churches, based on a set of criteria, and monitored by a committee of the OBSC.
